Alternator Rebuild
The parts you need are listed below:
- Voltage Regulator with Brushes A-Circuit, 14.4 Voltage - Bosch 1192052015,
- Premium Quality Bearing 6303-2RS 54700 17X47X14mm
- Premium Quality Bearing 6201-2RS 53200 12X32X10mm
- Capacitor, 2.2 µF - 2.2MF Blade Terminal End Replaces - Bosch 0290800036
The Restoration Apprentice has a great video on stripping the unit down, but the main bearing does not come out that easily, as the shim is stuck in place. Using this video, I managed to get the bearing and shim off - Alternator front bearing change, Bosch and Valeo tutorial
You can see below that the oil leak from the engine had covered the inside of the alternator case with oil.
Cleaned up the case and replaced the rear bearing
Cleaned up the bracket and had the bolts zinc coated along with the adjuster bracket
The alternator belt tension is 85 lbs, which works out at 110 lbs using OptiBelt tool on the top span of the belt (between crank and alternator)
